Radiosurgery
Radiosurgery is used more specifically in cases where brain tumors are involved. The radiosurgery technique uses ionizing radiation to target specific areas of malicious growth and destroy them. Brain surgery is risky business which is why this technique was developed so that doctors could treat brain cancer without invasive surgical procedures.
Radiotherapy or Radiation Therapy
Radiotherapy or radiation therapy is the more global term for treatment involving a process similar to radio surgery. Radiation Therapy is used for general treatment and prevention of cancer.
Cancers such as lymphoma attack the body is so many places that radiation therapy can be used to treat it all at once. Even in more specific cancers, after surgery has taken place, radiation therapy can be used to eliminate traces of cancer and prevent a recurrence.
