Make Apartment Hunting in Pacific Heights Easier

Posted by News Desk on 29th January 2010

Recently, my husband and I moved into the most perfect apartment for us and our current situation.  We have a two-bedroom, one level apartment with plenty of space.  It has one full bathroom and vaulted ceilings.  We also have the most beautiful view that overlooks the city.  Not only did we find the perfect apartment, but our rent price is amazing.  My husband first realized that he wanted to move closer to me when we started dating seriously.  It was not until months after looking for apartments and after he and I had gotten engaged that he finally found the apartment of our dreams.  There had to be an easier way to find our perfect little apartment.

It wasn’t until we were watching a show specifically about searching for apartments that we realized that you can hire an agent to help locate an apartment.  If only we had known earlier that we could hire an agent to help us find our apartment when we were doing our own apartment hunting, we could have probably saved a lot of time.  If you are looking for apartments in Pacific Heights, you can get the help you need by going to http://kathleengilheany.com.  There you can find an easy to use website to help you locate available apartments in Pacific Heights.  You can find all the information you will need to help get you on the right track.  They list apartments that have already been sold, will be available for sale soon, and that are currently available.  Then, you can find out more specific information about the units including the neighborhood information.  This will make your search for apartments in Pacific Heights much easier.

Getting Back In The Game

Posted by News Desk on 26th January 2010

When I was a kid I was obsessed with soccer.  In elementary school I played soccer at every recess period.  The highlight of my day was when the bell would ring, signaling the beginning of recess.  I would grab my soccer ball and head out to the field to take on all the boys.  As I got older I played on several local soccer leagues.  My walls of my room were covered in posters of players like Mia Hamm and John Harkes.  I ate candy bars that were sponsored by the US Youth Soccer league.  I had my whole soccer career planned out, down to the university that would recruit me and the position I would play on the national women’s team.  I played soccer as much as humanly possible and I played hard.  But sports are physical.  During several aggressive physical games I’d been tripped, knocked around, and had the wind knocked out of me.  Unfortunately, it was a couple of days after one aggressive game that I felt the real pain.  During some point in a game, someone had run into me, causing my head to snap forward.  I felt the pain of that whiplash in my shoulders, neck, and back for days.

If you are someone who has received a sports injury like whiplash, you are undoubtedly feeling the pain of your strained neck and back ligaments.  Fortunately, whiplash can be treated through adjustments through a licensed chiropractor.  If you are a resident of Utah looking for a Utah County chiropractor, Dry Creek Chiropractic can help.  The chiropractors at Dry Creek are trained to treat sports injuries like whiplash and can help you recover and get back in the game.

The Pain of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

Many ears ago I was looking for a new job to replace the horrible job I was currently working as a fitting room attendant and phone operator at a department store.  I heard there was a position open at a local candy factory making decorations out of frosting.  It required working alone in a quiet room and I could listen to music on my headphones.  It sounded better than answering phones so I applied for the job.  The new frosting job required long hours of doing nothing but creating little miniature frosting decorations like hearts or candles by repetitively squeezing a bag of frosting.  Although the work wasn’t difficult, it could be physically demanding on a person’s hands.  For this reason, the company required all of the employees to do stretching exercises twice a day to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome.  Despite these exercises, I developed some problems with circulation and pain in my hands after only a few months on the job.

If you are experiencing similar pain due to repetitive motion in your hands, wrists, or arms, you may have carpal tunnel syndrome.  Carpal tunnel syndrome is a medical condition in which the median nerve, a nerve which runs through the carpal tunnel in the wrist, is compressed causing pain.  The cause is usually inflammation and swelling around the flexor tendons, usually caused by repetitive motions.  Fortunately, one way of treating carpal tunnel is through regular visits to a trained chiropractor.  If you are a resident of Utah County looking for an American Fork chiropractor to assist with carpal tunnel syndrome problems, the skilled chiropractors at Timpanogos Chiropractic can help.  Regular visits to a chiropractor can help reduce the pain of this condition.

Scanning Paper to CAD; A True Lifesaver

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

Hand-drawing architectural plans and designs for pretty much anything is threatening to become a lost art. If it wasn’t for old school college professors who insisted that students learn how to draft everything by hand using a slide ruler, no one under the age of 30 would know how to render by hand now. Digital designs and files are a way of life for the rising generation of drafters and designers, but as with every other industry changing technology, design firms face the problem of what to do with piles and piles of paper files and designs.

Lucky for us, technology has solved that problem too. Hooray for the 21st century! There are now software service companies springing up all over the nation offering paper to CAD scanning services that enable designers to scan old files and create digital files that can be manipulated, changed and updated just as easily as if they were originally created in CAD. They can even generate 3D images from your plans.

The best part of these paper to CAD scanning services is that most of them charge either by the sheet, or by the hour. That means that regardless of how detailed and complex the hard copies of your design drawing are, you can get them all scanned for a set price. That saves a lot of time and money in the long run over manually entering designs into CAD, or storing mountains of paper files in a storage facility. Check out CAD scanning services near you and discover the most exciting time and saving technological advance since CAD itself was introduced.

Experiencing The Pain Of Whiplash

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

A few years ago I had a job that required me to commute about ten miles, which averaged to about fifteen minutes each way.  It wasn’t a bad commute and on beautiful mornings I liked to take a scenic route to work on back roads through farmland.  On one spring morning I was taking the scenic route and I stopped at a stop sign to wait until the cross street was clear so I could turn right.  Just as I was about to enter the street, I felt the force of impact as a car behind me failed to stop.  I glanced in my rear view mirror to see a woman frantically finishing up a cell phone call.  We pulled our cars out of the intersection to assess the damage, which turned out to be minimal.  She admitted that her cell phone call had distracted her and she had failed to pay attention to the road.  Fortunately neither of us was injured and there was minimal damage to both vehicles.  However, despite the mild nature of the accident, a few days later a soreness and pain in my neck and shoulders revealed that I had experienced whiplash.

Whiplash is a soft-tissue injury that occurs when a force of impact causes the neck to jerk forward, straining the muscles and tendons in the neck and shoulders.  This injury occurs most often in minor auto accidents, sports activities, or minor falls.  Fortunately, a trip to the chiropractor can help reduce the pain.  If you are a resident of Utah County experiencing whiplash pain and you are looking for American Fork chiropractic care, the trained and licensed chiropractors at Timpanogos Chiropractic can help.  Treatment from a chiropractor can make all the difference in your whiplash pain.

Out With The Old

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

As a kid I grew up in the western United States in a 1970s era ranch style home.  For most of my childhood my siblings and I sweated out the hot and dry desert summers with an antiquated swamp cooler that pumped out moist air with the crank of a knob on the wall.  It was loud and smelly but the only means of air conditioning available to us.  After a sweltering afternoon of playing in the sun, we would come home hot and sweaty and gather in the hall under the swamp cooler in order to make the best use of its limited cooling range.  As we got older and central air conditioning became more popular, we eventually convinced our parents that buying central air conditioning unit would be a good idea.  I still remember the day it was installed.  I watched with joy as the old swamp cooler was pried off the roof and relegated to the back of a truck, never to be seen again.  We gathered in the basement to partake of the complete and utter joy of the frigid cold coming through the vents.  Central air conditioning was one upgrade my parents have never regretted.

If you are a resident of Ohio looking to upgrade your existing outdated and inefficient cooling system, Logan Services can help.  For over forty years Logan Services has specialized in the installation of the latest heating and air conditioning technology to help residents combat the extreme temperatures of changing seasons.  If you are looking for heating and air conditioning in Cincinnati then Logan Services is the solution.

The Importance of Home Inspection

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

One of the most important steps before buying a home is having the home inspected by a licensed home inspector.  Buying a home is a big event and a large investment.  Before you make the long term commitment of a home mortgage, you want to make sure that the house is everything it is supposed to be.   Even if the home looks great to you, the trained eye of a home inspector may find flaws, defects, and needed repairs that you didn’t even notice.  A home inspector is trained to take a careful look at a few important areas.

One of the most important elements a home inspector looks at is the structural integrity of the home.  Walls, ceilings, floors, roof, support beams, and foundation will all be looked at carefully to make sure construction was handled properly and that the materials are in good shape.  The inspector will also take a look at exterior elements like wall coverings, grading, elevation, drainage, doors, windows, lights, etc.  Plumbing is also a feature that needs careful inspection.  The home inspector will look at pipe materials and determine their condition.  Essential systems like the furnace, water heater, and appliances will also need to be inspected as well as electrical systems like the main panel, circuit breakers, and wiring.  The inspector will help you determine what systems are defective or need servicing.

If you are a resident of Washington state looking for a home inspector in the Seattle area, the full service Seattle home inspection company All Home Inspection can help.  All Home Inspection provides a thorough and systematic inspection by a licensed home inspector to ensure that you are getting what you pay for in your new home.

Making A Dream A Reality

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

Like all newlywed couples, my husband and I like to talk about our ideas and hopes for the future.  We often talk about where we’ll be in ten years.  How many kids we’d like to have, where we want to end up living, what kind of cars we’d like to own, etc.  One topic that we discuss often is our future home.  Though right now we live in a small two-bedroom apartment on a street full of cookie-cutter apartment buildings, we dream of one day being able to build our custom dream home.  After all, it is the American dream.  Whenever we drive down residential streets we point out homes that have features we like or dislike and talk about all the elements we want in our future home, from the front door to the kitchen sink.  We talk about layout, acreage, and even construction materials.  We look forward to the day we will get to make that dream a reality.

If you are a resident of Indiana or Michigan that would like to make your dream home a reality, Rosemark Homes can help.  Whether you are looking for a home builder in Niles, Michigan or if you are an Indiana resident looking for South Bend home builders, your search is over.  Rosemark Homes is a company founded by two experienced builders that specializes in custom homes with elegance and practicality.  Rosemark Homes also specializes in energy-saving components in construction.  From design to completion, Rosemark can help you make your dream home a reality.

Photoshop Tips for Making the Perfect Photo

Posted by News Desk on 16th January 2010

There are two parts to a perfect photo.  The first part is to have some type of skill in photography.  A picture that is taken in the right lighting can make all the difference.  A photo taken without proper lighting will not only be less appealing, but it will be more difficult to manipulate it in Photoshop.  In my case, I am not the best at photography, but have hired a Miami photographer

When you have a great photo, now the fun can begin.  For website use, often the entire background of the photo will be removed so that everything surrounding the desired image is transparent.  When you save this file as a png file, it will not automatically add any background to it.  This is important when placing images on a website so that the color scheme of the website does not conflict with the image.  For example, if you wanted to put a picture of a business man on the right side of your screen, if you inserted that photo as a jpeg, you would see a white box around the person in the photo.  Once you get used to using png’s, you will realize how valuable this is.

Another reason you may want to make a background transparent is if you want to add a shadow or other effect to the image.  The effect will be applied to all visible elements in the image.  Erasing the background will allow you to apply the shadow to the person in the photo, not to the square photo itself.
