The age of sixteen marks a turning point in our lives. On our sixteenth birthday we are given an extra measure of independence and maturity. During this chapter of our life, we are in high school where the choices we make have an impact that shapes the rest of our life. If we take our schooling seriously, and make decisions about what we want to do with our life, then when we apply to universities, we will get into the university of our choice.
At sixteen we also start driving, assuming we pass our driving test. To prepare you for this test, there are many programs available, many through the high school system, that teach drivers ed in Maryland. Getting your license is a big deal. Finally we have the freedom to go somewhere without having to ask our parents to drive us there. I imagine that this is a difficult time for the parents.
Dating becomes a reality as well. Now couples can enjoy a fun time out together or join in a group. All of this extra freedom, however, brings extra responsibility. We have the choice to be responsible or irresponsible. Prior to this point in our lives, others have shouldered the burden of responsibility for us. Are we going to be a giver in society, or a taker? Although it does not sound like a difficult choice, unfortunately, some never make the choice and by default end up living off of the benefit of others their entire life. You have been given the keys to your car. Use this as a symbol to make some real decisions in your life.

We live in an age when our population is becoming more and more mature. There have been some amazing medical advances in the last fifty or so years that have lengthened the human life span. In the past, a breadwinner would work for forty years until the age of sixty five, and then live in retirement for other ten or so years. Now days, it is not uncommon for someone to be in retirement for thirty or more years. In the future, it looks like this could easily extend to forty years.
This evolving demographic brings about two challenges. The first is making sure you will have enough income to live comfortably during extended retirement. A thirty year retirement takes a lot more preparation than does a ten year retirement. A whole book could be written, and has, about how to make this all a reality.
The second factor to consider is the demands of medical and supervising care that will be required by this aged population. While we are living longer, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we have all of our physical or mental capacities the entire time. If you think the demand for California senior care is great now, imagine what it will be like in ten more years. If you want to gain an education in healthcare or nursing, there is almost no better way to ensure that you will have limitless opportunities for your entire working career. This opportunity is compounded by the fact that many medical institutions offer paid educational programs for working for their company for a specified number of years.

One thing is for sure in a good economy as well as a tough one: people have to eat. Many entrepreneurial individuals are buying custom concession trailers and giving the food vending business a try. You’ve probably seen them wherever you go: downtown at lunch and dinner time and at fairs and other big public events where people are going to get hungry. Trailers are much more convenient and versatile than stands because they can be moved wherever your customers are; consequently, they are a great choice for food concessionaires who are interested in going where the action is. If you are seriously considering starting a custom concession trailers business, here are 3 tried and test concession foods to sell that will increase your success.
1. The All-American Hot Dog: Hot dogs are the one food that children and adults alike both seem to agree on. They are relatively inexpensive food items, so your overhead will be fairly low and your customers will enjoy the price savings too. To help you stand out from other vendors, consider developing a recipe for toppings all your own such as a succulent chili or sauteed veggies.
2. The All-American Hamburger: Like its cousin the hot dog, it’s hard to go wrong with hamburgers. Concessionaires know that to compete with burger chains they have to use the freshest ingredients and toppings to make their burgers something really special. Catering to downtown businessmen? How about offering a burger with blue cheese and onions? It’s important to think outside the box a bit sometimes.
3. Vegetarian To Go: One of the most overlooked markets in the concessions business is vegetarians. Thanks to the “green movement,” there are more vegetarians than ever and precious few options when it comes to places for them to eat. Concessionaires who fill this highly lucrative niche have been finding great success: serve vegetable or bean patties, grilled vegetables, and tofu salads.
It’s a great time to get into the concession trailer business: there will always be a demand for excellent food that is quick and easy to get.
